Charlotte County Concert Band Awards 2019 Scholarships

The Charlotte County Concert Band is pleased to announce the award of scholarships for the 2018-19 season.  The band is chartered with promoting music within the community. In addition to performing six concerts during the season (November through April), an additional, and some say a more important facet, is promoting music to the young musicians within Charlotte County.  We accomplish this by welcoming qualified young musicians to play in the band, and providing scholarships to a graduating senior from each of the three high schools in the county.  We are pleased to announce the winners of this year’s scholarships.

Allison Deal is a graduating senior at Lemon Bay High School.  She is a trumpet player with a good deal of experience in the local music community, having played with the Charlotte Chorale and participating in the Charlotte Symphony’s Musical Chairs event.  She will be entering Stetson University in the fall.

Elizabeth Myers is a bass clarinet player from Pt Charlotte High School.  She has played through middle school and high school and plans to continue her education at the University of Miami.

Fisher Morris and Alexandra Stovall are awardees from Charlotte High School.  Both of these outstanding musicians have played with the Charlotte County Concert Band.  Fisher is a brass player, playing both trombone and euphonium.  He will be continuing his education at the University of South Florida.  Alexandra is a woodwind player who is primarily a flute player, but also plays the oboe and tenor Saxophone.  She is headed for the University of Central Florida in the fall.

The board of directors and every member of the band want to congratulate this year’s awardees.  We’d also like to encourage high school students throughout the county to continue their pursuit of music.  Come out and watch our performances, and if you have the time and the talent, come play with us.  Maybe next year your name might be on the list of scholarship winners.
